I don't think you undestand KH very well. The truth is that he works in a very competitive domain, where you have to be actually super-brilliant in order to be succesfull. Hard work and intelligence are not even sufficient. What KH knows from experience (and I'm inclined to believe him) is that he's much smarter than the average, and yet that's not even sufficient to guarantee him professorship when he's done with his PhD. He probably unconsciously suffers from that, when he thinks that he could have become a doctor or an engineer and have an easy time.

Hence KH's arrogance is more a function of the immensity of the challenge he faces than a true show of weakness. There are times where you need to offload your unconscious stress, and Poly is one of the best RPGish punching bag you could devise to that effect.

I've got my own asshat-o-matic opinions on this, but there's no need to give names.

I couldn't have dealt with the boredom of being an engineer, and as for doctor, I have neither the work ethic nor the stomach.

I'm glad you had the forethought to say "most", because there's not one thing wriong with me. I'm just dandy, but thanks for any concern any might have had on that subject.

That's possible, but the older I get the more important having enough money to live comfortably on and being able to retire at a reasonable age seem to me...
