  • Tornadoes

Seems to me that I bring up tornadoes frequently. There's a reason.
The last count that I saw, was for 125 tornado watches to date in North Texas. April, May and June is tornado season, with May getting as many tornadoes as April and June combined.

Yesterday, the Panhandle of Texas was torn up by tornadoes. An official count is awaited, to be provided by the National Weather Service. They have to officially identify a storm as tornadic for it to count.

Last Friday, alarms went off where I live, in Richardson.
This is what caused the sounding of alarms. Friday the 13th, it was just too weird.
They only sound alarms when a tornado is actually spotted. This was a relatively small tornado, but it tore up Haltom City, which is just down the road.

So there's a reason I blabber on about my concern.
They scare the piss out of me, yet I find them so interesting.

No, I didn't. Haltom City is about 15 miles away. I don't know that I could take a photo. I had a chance to take one of a bear one time, and couldn't move; so I hold little hope of snapping a tornado.

This is the closest I've ever been to a tornado:

... and by that I mean seeing pictures of it on the internet
This space is empty... or is it?

Verto, have you seen one in person? I saw one on the side of the highway, smallish like this one, and about 50 yards away. I was 10 and have never recovered from it.

I saw one at a large distance while travelling once. It didn't really affect me.

Yes, but at a distance. I figure that, in the event of a tornado, there will most likely be plenty of McAnchors I can grab onto if things get hairy.
