  • The gayest country?

Alot of gays in the Philippines, but I'm wondering if there is a country renowned for gayness? Any place with more than the rest?

It's pretty hard to isloate just one European country. I mean, Britain has a very high proportion and a relatively large population but every male in Greece is a raging homosexual - how can you really say which one is more gay?

The survey of sexual habits by international condom maker Durex found that together with Americans, Australians had the highest proportion of same-sex relationships.

At the other end of the scale, Vietnam recorded the lowest proportion of gay and lesbian relationships, at three per cent.

Other people may be homosexual, but only Americans are gay.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Statisicly I guess every country should have about roughly the same share of a gay population... (I think the gay-gens show up at random (?) )

So any significant diffrences should be due to more gays moving into a specific country than out...

Thus my guess is the Netherlands, as it has the most open society for gays (meaning 1. a low number of ppl with resentiments against gays and 2. the highest number of gay specific facilities (gay-bars, clubs and the like). I for one would certainly move to the Netherlands if I were gay

I'd take any statistics with not just a pinch, but a truckload of salt - this simply because there are large cultural differences in the acceptance or discrimination of gays, and this, of course, will of course influence whether people are ready to identify themselves as gay.

I'd imagine that the majority of gays, say, in Iran, wouldn't be exactly eager to reveal their sexual orientation, even if they were assured anonymity.

I expect that the persentage of gays doesn't really differ much from country to country, but rather any statistics reveal more about the country's attitude towards gays.

Texas has it's share, but it's not a country by itself (although it was once and theoretically could be according to its constitution). I suppose I would have to guess California would have a higher proportion than Texas, due to San Francisco, California's larger population and all the liberals that live there.
As far as countries...I would have to say France. I visited Paris once and saw a ****load of them, kissing and walking hand-in-hand in all the public places I visited.

I say this should be decided by number of gays and tolerance oof gays.
