    the rest went to Italy.
    Hungarian-croatian proposition gained no vote at all.

              I think the decision was just fine.
              Italy should be required to remain 12 years without major scandal before getting any major event again - that is: never.

              Hungary/Croatia had no appeal at all - Hungarians seemed to be quite indifferent to the bid.

              Esp. the combination of a EU country with an Ex-Soviet Union state is interesting.

                    Croatia was in union with Hungary (de facto conquered) for many centuries. 800 I think. In XIX century, it were Croatians that vigorously helped quashing hungarian uprisings... But now it is different... I think both Hungarians and Croatians have their problems with Serbs (Serbian Slavonia and Kraina in Croatia, partly hungarian Voivodina in Serbia)...
