Give New England back to the English
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Why aren't you a good slave and grateful that somebody wants to liberate you?

On more serious note, "Belgium" and "The Netherlands" used to be terms used interchangeably to denote the same area, so by that line of reasoning both countries are continuously expressing territorial claims on one another (and Luxemburg and French Flanders) with their names. I can safely say though, that the names of both countries have never been a bone of contention.

The Belgiums are too dull and the dutch too stoned to get too worked up

As has been said, the Republic of Macedonia has long since removed the offending rhetoric from its constitution. Aside from that, however, be realistic - trade with Greece is crucial for Macedonia, as the embargo demonstrated, and it should be readily apparent that Macedonia is incapable of seriously threatening "liberation" against a Hellenic Republic with far superior economic, diplomatic, and military power.

Anyone who thinks Macedonia presents a credible threat to Greece is delusional. Besides, Macedonia isn't the only state with irredentist claims to Greece - what about Bulgaria, considering their San Stefano borders, or Albania, which I believe claimed "southern" Epirus in the past? Every country has its radical fringe that wants a "greater X," Greece and Macedonia included. The issue is clearly about the name and the cultural appropriation it implies to Greeks, because there exists no credible threat to Greece and irredentist claims no longer exist within the Macedonian constitution to my knowledge.

as i noted already, these claims continue to exists semi-officially.

of course there is no real threat. this doesnt mean that such claims must be ignored

You can count on a certain Welshman to come in and clear this all up to satisfaction. All a Welshman really has to occupy his time is how many sheep he can **** in 1 day.
