      Of course psychological tests aren't infallible, but they would hopefully filter out the nuttiest of the nutbars.

                    I read that the guns had had their serial numbers scratched off...

                    Still, don't you think the killer would be aware that a legally-bought gun could be disabled in this manner, and go for an illegal one...I'm still referring to your scenario of course.

                          I used to work with a painfully shy woman like it sounds like this guy was. She never once acknowledged a hello, even though I made a point to say hello every day. For a couple years.


                          You were smart to say hello to her, though. Might have kept you from being killed if she had snapped while you still worked there...
