I guess I don't understand who would arm the Saudis; they certainly don't have the brains or talent to start their own nuke program.

Actually, now that I think about it, we probably would, in another stellar display of the-enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend diplomacy.

That would be the reason an Arab state like the Saudis would seek nuclear weapons in the likely event of the complete failiure of the EU led negotiations to get Iran to halt it development. What's your point?

they certainly don't have the brains or talent to start their own nuke program.
They have the money. That buys a lot of brains and talent. The Russians for instance seem perfectly willing to kick start the Iranian nuclear program for money. I'm sure the House of Saud can cut a similar deal.

Pakistan would probably give them a bomb to 'protect Mecca'. If they haven't already.

A nuclear Saudi Arabia isn't really any more concerning than a nuclear Pakistan is...
True, but both a nuclear SA and a nuclear Pakistan is more of a concern than either separately Every additional country with nukes is an additional risk.

If the world community really cared that much about the additional risk, we'd be doing something to stop Iran right now. We aren't, so I don't see why I should be so up in arms about other countries following Iran's lead...

Y'know, I suppose there isn't anything inherently strange about, say, your average man in the street calling a four-star general an idiot. But if it comes down to whose word I would trust more in an argument, odds are, I'd go with the guy with the stars on his shoulder boards over, say, the average man in the street. Especially if all the latter can do to the former is call him an idiot.
