In New Zealand businesses are not allowed to open on religious holidays (with the exception of, among others, gas stations, small grocery stores, and, ironically, Pizza Hut). My employer is also able to open on this day.
In New Zealand there is also a Crown Entity called the Accident Compensation Corporation, who essentially pay for medical treatment and can remunerate any lost earnings due to injuries
Anyway, on Thursday I reckon I strained my latissimus dorsi, meaning the work I'm involved with becomes rather painful, along with sitting down. As a result, Ive been unable to work for the past few daysm Naturally though, I'm not able to go and see my doctor until next Tuesday at the earliest because of Easter. Being unable to work since Thursday has resulted in me losing NZ$400 in earnings... yet I will not receive remuneration from ACC due to me not being able to get a medical certificate clearing me from work for the relevant days.
I dislike archaic laws at the best of times, but when mixed with red tape...
