    • Well, let's have a bet.

You'll dig a hole with your nails, while I dig a hole with a shovel. Let's see who has produced the biggest hole at the end of the day

        I don't understand your point.

How about this? I dig a hole with a shovel or whatever. Then you pay me to dig a hole on your property. Have I produced less wealth digging the hole on your property just because you paid me?

              • no kidding, i agree, but when you compare pure labor (digging with fingernails) with labor + capital, you realize that you can create more wealth digging a hole with a shovel. thus, labor is not the only creator of wealth. the difference in wealth between what you dug with your fingernails and what you dug with a shovel is the wealth created by the shovel.

                • You can increase your wealth by changing your financing and increasing NPV.

I disagree. The shovel acts as a multiplier, not as an additive.

Let's say one day of shovelling is worth one week of fingernailing. If I was to work zero day with the shovel, nothing would get done: the shovel doesn't add 6 days worth of labour. That's because the shovel multiplies productivity, rather than adding on production.

                            • So the communist claim is that only labor creates wealth where as capital is a labor multiplier? The seems like a self serving argument.

What about automated processes that require little to no labour presence but instead replace manual labour or computation?
