Last Sunday I won $350 and today I won another $300. Those were the only two times I've gone to a casino in the last six months. Both times I started with $100 got up to $600 and then lost $150-$200 before quiting.

All in all not bad for just playing though I don't think I will make a habit of it. Harrah's even comped me one free night at Harrah's Lake Tahoe (good for the next year). The cards have been good and the best part is I put my money aside and was just playing with the house's money.

Yes, I am $650 up retarded. Besides both times I was entertaining friends and planned on playing just $100. When it was gone I'd quit for the night but I kept winning at blackjack (a knowledgeable player can make it a 55%-45% split in the casino's favor but make up the difference on double downs and splits). I'm not great but am decent enough to know what I'm doing plus I only go when I'm entertaining friends who enjoy playing. Like I said twice in the last six months.

All in all it is cheap entertainment as long as you set a limit and don't ever cross that limit. Comps for shows or hotel stays, the entertainment factor for playing, and comped drinks make it worth while. When I go downtown I normally blow at least $100 so who cares about gambling $100 especially if you win once in a while to keep it fun?

There are exceptions, maybe very good card counters, etc...

As other people have said, if you expect to lose money and you have fun, it's not any worse than say going to the cinema or out drinking, IMO. (Note that I never gamble, because it's not entertaining at all)

I mean the probabilty of getting to 6-10x your starting bet isn't that low, (1 our of 20 or whatever, depending how you play), and the amounts involved aren't very impressive compared to most gambling stories.


BTW Oerdin, I think even in your opening post you show many symptoms that gamblers do.
For example you very arbitrarly select your cutoff point to evaluate your cumulative.
You mentionned twice the 6 month cut off, what if we go back?
What's your cumul. over the last 5 times you went to the casino?
10 times?

I don't think you're an addict because you don't go often enough, but, like many people, you adopt a viewpoint that's not very realistic in my opinion.
I guess that's the only way to enjoy gambling.

Viejas is old school now days. They've opened like 8 new casinos since Viejas opened so the two best now are Pechanga (the biggest casino in North America outside of Vegas) and Harrah's Rincon (east of Escondido near Valley Center in the middle of nothing but farm fields).

The thing is they're planning on opening 3 more casinos in the next year all with Vegas Casino tie-ins so the competition will just get harder. I love that we have so many worthless no name indian tribes around here.
