Why would faith really be in ancient texts?

I meant faith as in faith in things beyond the empirical in general. If you were to destroy Christianity tomorrow, it would only be a matter of time before Jesus got replaced by something else. It could be Marduk, Ahura-Mazda or the warlord Xenu, but something would come along. If the idea of believing in God or reincarnation or whatever is made too great an object of ridicule, people will channel their faith into Communism or another such "scientific" ideology instead. I thought this was all obvious.
