After much thought, this is the position I have taken up. I believe that a woman's rights over her body are absolute, but I still consider abortion an abhorrent practice, which should be avoided as much as possible.
The only circumstance in which I consider abortion morally acceptable is either when the mother's life is in danger, or when she is in such a condition that the child is better dead than alive (this may happen sometimes when the child is absolutely unwanted). However, is should be legally acceptable at all times.
Do other people share this view? If so, how many do? And why is opinion so starkly divided on this issue? Why are there so few who are more moderate, like me?
