If you want to be an ass about it, technically the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" is a state (and a country, depending on who you ask), England, Scotland and Wales are nations (and countries) within the state, Northern Ireland is a country within the state but can be further divided into two other major nations, there are many different types of countries (such as Britain) within those nations/countries, and the United Kingdom has a diverse number of smaller subnations within the state as a whole (including various immigrant and non-immigrant nations).Originally posted by Provost Harrison
