Everyone thought that there were no more new large mammals out there to be found yet here we have a top predator which was entirely unknown to science. This reminds me of other recent discoveries (in the last 5-10 years) a true species of wild horse was found in Tibet and a species of lemurs thought to be extinct where found in Laos. It seems we really do have more to learn about our world's jungles before we destroy them all.

It seems you are right. It was a group of rodentia which was thought to be extinct which was found in Laos. Not Lemurs.

I do neither and simply report when ever negative things occur. In any event it was supposed to be a fairly large mammal and a very different group from traditional rodents. It wasn't a species which was thought to be extinct but a whole group. It was a major scientific find.
