WWI, Why America?

The United States went to war against Germany in 1917:

1) to save democracy;

2) to end all wars;

3) the Huns were barbaric and had to be destroyed;

4) British propaganda that protrayed the Germans as Huns who had to be destroyed;

5) one or more "unprovoked" attack(s) on the US or its citizens that only war could resolve;

6) the Zimmerman note (which came to us from Britain);

7) all of the above;

8) none of the above; or

9) other.

I thought of putting "profits" down as well. But that is the commie view of America and was simply irrelevant to public opinion at the time.

and the reason the leaders of the state, and foreign policy makers wanted war, is not the same as public opinion.

Looks like Teddy was reading the London or NY Times. His views are very consistent with the prevailing propaganda.

So, LoTM, since you choose to believe the propaganda, I assume your choice is not other, but 3: The Huns are barbaric and must be destroyed.
