  • Help! Trouble editing my registry....

Trying to modify a registry entry...

When I try to edit the name of obsidian it says "The registry editor cannot rename Obsidian. Error while renaming key."...

It won't let me add new keys to this one folder either!

When I try to add a registry key from a friend to that directory it says "Error acess the registry".

    Any ideas?

Nuke the computer from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

The permissions on the registry were not set to allow the account I was logged onto, to modify that entry.

.....yet I have the power to modify those permissions, from the same account. Makes no sense, but works fine now.

dont listen to any advice from the OT forum...

BUT you MAY want to check to see if you have a redundant program loop somewhere in your task manager or MSCONFIG. That prevents any editing of the program as well as the said registry.
