  • Rome (season one. No spoilers, dammit)

I just finished season 1 and I'm looking forward for Season 2. It looks like they managed to recreate the Roman society fairly accurately. Of course, they took some liberties. For example, the show portrays Atia of the Julii as a Messalina-like character. But it seems she wasn't like that at all.

So its an entertaining show, with good actors. It also features Indira Varma, who does a pretty good job. And she's gorgeous, as usual.

    Some things I don't like:

    - No battle scenes (they probably didn't have the budget)

    - Season 1 is too short and ends too abruptly.

You will get some battle scenes in season two, but it is also shorter than season one.

I wondered about that too, esp. after reading the budget for S1 was 100 million USD.

Filming the show in Rome must be expensive. And I hear that producing a play or a film in Italy is a logistical nightmare, because the Italians never do anything on time.

To be fair, the battle scene in one of the first episodes was pretty interesting. It showed Roman tactics in action. Unfortunately, it was shot really close-up. It didn't give you a sense of the scale of the battle.

Well, season 2 has some nice battles.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

Season one was almost just a half season. How can Season two be even shorter?

You guys are spoilt in the USA, over here 6 - 8 episodes a series in he norm. I start off liking USA programmes like Lost and BSG but I always end up missing some, falling behind and losing interest half way through a series.

Gods of the Junii, with this offering I ask you to summon Tyche, Megara, and Nemesis so that they may witness this curse. By the spirits of my ancestors I curse chegitz guevara. Let his penis wither. Let his bones crack. Let him see his comrades drown in their own blood. Gods of the Junii, I offer to you his limbs, his mouth, his breath, his speech, his hands, his heart, his stomach. Gods of the Inferno, let me see him suffer deeply, and I will rejoice and sacrifice to you.

EDIT: a new and improved curse
