While representatives of Ungdomshuset met with the head mayor of Copenhagen French activists occupied the Danish consulate in Lyon. Also Berlin and Moscow activists have carried through support actions within the last week.

At a meeting at city hall today people from the house met with politicians of the Social Democratic Party to re-present the four demands from the house. Stating that a new house has to be in our local area, has to be as big or bigger than Ungdomshuset, has to be self governed and has to be given to us.

The politicians still refuse to give us a house despite the fact that they have sold the one we have today. So the meeting did not lead to a solution to the ongoing conflict. But the politicians and the foundation supporting us will look at one more unexplored option. Still nobody is getting there hopes up. Never trust a politician.

Yes, the activists were clearly being the fair, reasonable, peaceful ones.

Just because they are speculators doesn't mean that they did it for profit. I think it's pretty obcious why they did it when they mention the incident in church and call it a victory for god because the activists can use the building anymore because God is stronger than Satan.

Speculation = profit seeking. Like buying stock is called speculation, Kid.

That being said, the situation definitely turned spiteful at some point. Whether that existed prior to the 1999 sale or sometime during the ensuing political/legal battles, I can't say.

Clearly the fundies turned down a very lucrative offer recently (they would've quadrupled their investment, it seems). The question is whether that would have been their stance back in 1999, or if they got more and more obstinate over time due to the conflict.

for a fundy Christian if the sun shines own their picnic they call that a victory for God. years of fighting tends to make you see things in terms of win-lose and they see Satan everywhere.

If I were the owner I would also say " well its a victory sicne they cannot use the building anymore" sicne them getting out is a necessary precondition to doing other stuff with the building

I find it hilarious that you folks think you are so defeated since you lose one building. There will be another building that does much the same.

Although I think that many fundy Christians aren't that smart, I don't think they are so dumb as to think that this will appreciably stop or slow the left/alternative movement.

i know how fundys are. they may view this as a victory from god, who knows. but the main true-and-blue point here is: the activists broke the law and started a riot. you can dissect and explain all the various reasons why like kid does, but that does not change my original point.
