  • Then what's the security staff people were using to explain his wasteful electricity bill?
I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

      • How does the cost of flooding Nevada compare to the cost of building solar panels across Nevada?
Cheaper to flood, and the inland sea can then be used as an irrigation reservoir for the western US which certainly could use it. Hey, beach front property for millions more people safe from tsunamis.

why are some untried engineering projects, with who knows what side effects, assumed perfect, while engineering projects that are well along are dissed?
Umm... I have no problem with solar panels. As for "untried engineering projects" - pumping ocean water into a basin aint exactly cutting edge science.

Except you'll be contracting them in the tropics.
Why? "Global warming" or the greenhouse effect warms the poles and higher latitudes more than the tropics. That would reduce the amount of cold dry air blowing around up north and the strength of storms needing that cold dry air as fuel.

Not clear theres a net gain in cultivable land area. There may be a gain. There may be a loss. Without having read all the studies, Im assuming its a wash in terms of cultivable land area.
Look at the northern hemisphere and all that land we aren't using because its a few degrees too cold for crops.

Except to get that wash, youve got infrastructure investments, human capital investments (or large scale migrations) etc all of which are costly. The US Wheat belt if filled with railroad sidings, silos, farm roads, etc all of which are in the wrong place now. Etc, etc.
You wanna see large scale migrations just watch people leaving the north because a mile thick ice sheet is plowing up their country. I thought all you global warming zealots loved "The Day After" or whatever that garbage was about global warming sending us into an ice age overnight. Your concerns appear to based on speculations about weather patterns - we got that problem now, we've always had it. The Sahara became a desert, the Great Lakes became navigable waterways, and Greenland was...ahem... green.

It just seems obvious to me, a warmer world provides more stability, not less.
