Its nice to see you are at least consistent- The people you work with are all geniuses and your chat board are all in the top 15%

    • No, the people who have asked to be rated are all in the top 15%

There are some people here who fall below that.

      • And yes, everybody I work with is a genius. In fact, everybody I work with is more intelligent than all but the top 10% or so of people on that list.

Flubbie, at some point you might have to accept that "average" in the general population is fairly stupid.

        • I really like how you find it incredible that a chat board devoted to a historically-based computer strategy game which is then further self-selected by participants asking to have their intelligence rated comes in significantly above average.

"sufficient" varies greatly, depending on the topic...

Some people on this list are sufficiently intelligent (though they may be lacking in knowledge) to provide an interesting contribution to virtually any discussion. Others are far more limited.
Assuming that your rankings are accurate ( ), that sounds about right. Probably higher.

Really, I don't view the general populace as stupid. Rather, I think Poly has seen some very smart people. That might be their only redeeming quality -- and I question the relative value of intelligence anyway -- but there you are.

There have been lots of extremely intelligent Polytubbies who no longer post as well.

It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Incredible? NO, I just enjoy the hubris of you individually and poly as a group. Oh and I accept that being a computer user will mean, on average , that you are of above average intelligence. I further accept that the nature of the games we play would lift that again.

But I find it difficult to accept that EVERYONE on your list is in the top 15%. I do not accept that asking to be rated is somehow correlated to a tendency to higher intelligence. It, at most, might be correlated to the requester's BELIEF in their own intelligence.

Personally I have enjoyed these threads. I am surprised at how long the concept has lasted

                • There are posters in that list who can't possible be in the top 15%.

I see the humility quotient is quite low on apolyton.

                      • No, that's based on test scores, with a SWAG factor.

Funny. I don't see your name mentioned on that list...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?
