To be honest, I wouldn't be that shocked if Jesus appeared to be married. No problems with that. Neither if he would have had children.
But the problem here is that if he's still in his grave he apparantly didn't resurrect.

The majority of Christians all over the world practise their religion in this way yes. As a compromise between pagan traditions and papal compromises, with a hint of mystic ritual here and there.

No thats when the nature of his resurrection comes under debate. My position is that the body we have in this world will not be the same one used on the other side. Therefore its only natural that Jesus left his earthly body behind.

laurentius, oooh I meant the intergalatic battle between the chewbaccas and the jellyfish. It's gotten out of hand. I think if the federation can't deal with it, we should choose our sides. I suggest chewbaccas is the side we choose.

I think we've reached the real crux of this issue. All publicity is good publicity, as they say.

I'm sorry we seem to have a transmissional problem in our telepathic communication. Perhaps you could use the SW-tags next time.

                    Eww, gnosticism...

As for the OP, it sounds pretty farfetched. Leader of a controversial Jewish sect is executed as a criminal, then buried in a carved stone tomb purchased by his family of carpenters. Nobody bothers to bring it up in the decades and centuries of theological controversies that follow, and everyone forgets the site even existed despite the fact that it flatly contradicts several elements of the growing sect's story.

Wait a minute; wasn't this already a crappy movie with Antonio Banderas?

                      edit: Yep, thought so.

                          Maybe they'll find God's DNA
We dont need Jesus for that, according to the Sumerians we were created by combining the blood of the Gods with an existing creature in the Absu. And the Zulu speak of an ancient time when their ancestors (called artifical ones) fought wars with the apemen.

According to Jewish tradition the groom supplies the wine at weddings, Jesus was asked to supply the wine at the wedding at Cana. That may be a hint, but I understand a gnostic gospel does say he was married. It doesn't matter to me if he was or wasn't, it does nothing to his message. He didn't tell anyone, even the priestly class, they couldn't marry. He said its up to the individual to decide for themself...

Oh, I like how the Christians reject this wholesale, just because it doesn't fit with their view of the world.

Gives the word narrowminded a whole new meaning.

The fact that Jesus lived as a real historical person is pretty much accepted by everyone. So it figures that there is (or has been) a grave somewhere.

Is it so bleeding unlikely that said grave would someday be unearthed???????????
