A lot of people would agree with that, myself included. And I don't even talk about that.. 'social intelligence' and other BS liberal art majors would try to push, to compensate their own poor results.

They still don't measure intelligence very well. It should be much more comprehensive.

Either you misunderstood the flow of the conversation I was having with Lori or I did, then.

I thought he was referring to my opinion of IQ tests when saying that he'd "never seen me post that opinion before". You obviously thought he was referring to my opinon of Pekka.

I have a high opinion of IQ tests. I used to laugh at them, but I've changed my mind. A point here or there is not important, what is important is that IQ tests measure intelligence very well.

Those with high IQ scores are generally going to outperform those with low scores in just about any activity that requires use of brain.

Also, good news for Pekka, it seems that high IQ is correlated with high salaries...

1. I accept everyone's "persona" on here. Lying or truth is irrelevant to me as I couldn't be bothered to try to catch people out.

2. A given poster like KH or Pekka may be every bit as intelligent as they proclaim. I merely observed that most posters on here would be aware of KH's high opinion of himself. I make and have made no assertions as to the accuracy of that opinion.

3. Physics doesn't impress me any more than any given field that requires higher intelligence. I'm sure that KH would be the first to tell you that not all his colleagues are equally bright.

I saw your post about Pekka's intelligence was followed immediately in the sequence by Lori's comment . I now see those posts were a minute apart so he could have been responding to your prior post.

So to clarify

I'm sure that KH would be the first to tell you that not all his colleagues are equally bright.

The distribution of intelligence in physics departments is skewed higher than it is in any other environment I've experienced.

I get that you are in an elite physics environment from what you have said. . . . . perhaps some of the the very smartest people in that field.

How much time have you spent hanging with the smartest chemists, doctors, lawyers, engineers etc etc. ??? Do you think you could even understand the basics of the conversation when the elite in these fields are discussing the intricacies of their work ( in fields completely unrelated to yours).

Then we are in full agreement. My view of MY own intelligence is quite independent of any test I have ever taken as well.
