  • Explain the likely US presidential candidates

    Morning, slags.

If it's not too much trouble, please could some of our US users give us a guide to the likely presidential candidates from both sides?

With the exception of a few names (Clinton/Giuliani/McCain), these are people I know very little about so some news/opinions would be helpful.

    Big snogs.

      Hillary Clinton
      Chris Dodd
      John Edwards
      Dennis Kucinich
      Barack Obama
      Bill Richardson

      Republicans:
      Sam Brownback
      Jim Gilmore
      Rudy Giuliani
      Mike Huckabee
      Duncan Hunter
      John McCain
      Ron Paul
      Mitt Romney
      Tom Tancredo
      Tommy Thompson

      Considering:
      Ralph Nader - Independent

      Withdrawn:
      Tom Vilsack - Democrat

      Some sites that may help:
A progressive news blog focusing on political events and the news coverage of them

      - Covers bits of news missed, glossed over, or ignored outright by the US mainstream media

      - Tracks how well (or how poorly) each candidate is utilizing the Internet to get out their message
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

Is this going to be a "getting blood out of a stone" thread? I'm looking for personal opinions.

Ha! Barack sounds like former Israeli PM Ehud Barak, so he's a good guy. Aside from this the fact that he's running for pres in the US is proof of teh evil Zionist world conspiracy.

Obama smoked AND INHALED! He even tried harder drugs. No that's a guy I can relate too. He's extremely carismatic and sharp.

Hilary doesn't appear as sharp as she was in the 90s. I think she may look bad next to him.

Most of those candidates don't stand a chance.

                          Of those that do:

Hillary - She is certainly competent and intelligent, but lacks the emotional appeal that her husband had. Probably the most disciplined of the candidates.

Obama - lots of charisma, and certainly intelligent, but I don't think he has the ruthlessness needed to win most of the time in these games. His background will hurt him more than help him.

Giuliani - aggressive leader, too aggressive, the type that likes to be vindictive in victory, crybaby in defeat. Also has a lot of baggage, both from his personal and professional life.

McCain - evocative background, but a long legislative record that saddles him with a lot of votes that don't help him. Worked a lot of being "authentic", which is never a good sign.

Romney - don't know enough about him to form an opinion.

It's interesting to see that Giuliani is known outside the country. Is that from 9/11 or...?
