Well, he was like an Abolishionist to me and my era..

you see, back in my day we didn't have remotes, we had children of our parents, and we would get our "Buttons" pushed by Mom and Dad and then we would go switch channels....

Now, back then in Maine we had only 3 channels from Maine and 2 Canadian stations..

We had to flip through the channels and an a few occasions tweak Rabbit Ears to get a signal

I suppose the Canadian channels were UHF off that round antenna?

Actually, our Rabbit Ears were not that great, we had an older set and during snow storms it wreaked havoc trying to get them to tune in

I remember when family members could effect the tuning (for better or worse) just by standing or sitting in certain places. There would be complants as someone getting up to get something would cause a snowshower on the program.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I still use rabbit ears to get the morning news. I refuse to pay good money for the crap on cable.

Hehe, that reminds me of a classical april fools joke by the swedish television news. They had a very well respected TV-person announce that the Swedish Television Network had come up with a new technology that allowed ordinary B/W television sets to show colour. You just had to cut open a nylon stocking and attach that over the TV screen...

Now this was in 1962, and TV was a fairly new medium in Sweden. And there was only one channel at that time, so the impact was quite big...
