I need help choosing a TV

I want to get a TV for my apartment (It's been almost 5 years since Ive actually owned one or had one I could watch on a consistent basis at home).

I want an LCD or plasma thats at least 30". I'll primarily be watching DVDs and PBS. I might also be using this as a computer monitor for my desktop computer.

The price range is up to 1000 dollars.

So what say you boys, what should I consider?

If you'll be using it as a monitor, definitely avoid Plasma. The resolutions suck.

A year ago, I almost bought, on a whim, a 32" Sharp LCD. It was 2K$ cdn. Boy did prices drop since then! Now you can have a very good 32 incher for about 1200$ cdn. Recently, Dell was selling a 32 incher for about 1K$ cdn.

You should visit the AVS forum for info on particular models. These guys know their stuff.

They don't have the new version of the 37 incher at Best buy right now, they only sell the first version. The new one looks a lot better.

I'm reading the AVS thread on the Westinghouse right now, and it seems that Westy TVs have a lock up issue. Not sure what they mean or if it has been fixed by now.

I've read a lot about that too, and I've never had any problems...and I use my TV a lot.
