if youd like to, here it is.

Sorry, Ive only got the transliterated lyrics handy.

I can figure out in memory, from the house, from the beach, from the trees, beautiful treetops, and (gold?) that walks ----

    what great/many---

    and called Ruthi

    at these beaches (?)

    Sand ---- skies

I knew what this love (?)

Ruti, by Einstein - Brenner - Lavi

    RUTI

    Li kol gal nose maz'keret

    li na'arah yesh ush'mah Ruti,
    ham'tzapah be'eleh hachofim.

israelite are the ancient ones methinks. Israelis the modern ones.

Like mongolians are the modern ones, but mongols the ones who lived in genghis times.

Kum ba ya, My Lord, Kum ba ya.
Kum ba ya, My Lord, Kum ba ya.
Kum ba ya, My Lord, Kum ba ya.
              Oh Lord, Kum ba ya.

Some one's crying Lord, Kum ba ya.

Some one's laughing Lord, Kum ba ya.

Some one's shouting Lord, Kum ba ya.

Some one's praying Lord, Kum ba ya.

Kum ba ya, My Lord Kum ba ya.

                  It would appear not.

Translation is a serious bussiness. Especially for songs and poems.

I actually studied translation as a subject and you made me do a half assed job.

                        Here goes:

Each wave carries me a souvenier (reminder)
From the house, from the seashore
From the trees with lovely peaks
And the gold of fleeting foilage

(quite poorly translated. can't be arsed)

Carry me Boat, and float ahead
                        How great is the longing
I have a girl, her name is ruti
                        Who awaits, on those seashores

Her eyes are azure as the skies
her gaze, like a flame (you misheard: like the moon)
If I had only kissed her lips
I would have known that what love is

Storm about and the ship is screetching
As it jumps from wave to wave
With the thunder she's heard laughing
With the wind she curls my hair

ive never denied being an old guy, or being nerdy.

And a rough translation is good enough.

gal is "Wave" or turn, rotation, as in "galgalim"?

                            "T'chol eineiha kashamaim"

Ah, I should have gotten most of that line.
