I would never actively encourage my son to fight. But if he is on the playground and in a dispute with another child of similar age ( nearly 4) I will choose not to see their fight unless it escalates. Typically they work it out pretty quickly

In my view a child has to learn to handle themselves and not assume that Mommy and Daddy will always be right there to protect them.


Oh and I assume the video shows behavior that is offensive

I agree-- making children fight and any form of taunting them would be extremely offensive. As a parent you have to be the adult and stay out of the fray.

Thats why I studiously "do not see" the dispute my boy is in. I don't want him see me witnessing hid fight and taking no action.

Its a fine line actionally since I don't want to encourage fighting but at the same time I do not want my children to be passive and expect parental rescue all the time

this isn't annecdotal, it happened and the parents were up in court for it

Pretty disturbing. I'm thinking we should license people who can have children. Some are just too stupid to have kids.

I don't have anything against toughening up a kid. But I just don't think is a case where that is done. THis is how you make them depressed and screwed up in the head. It tells me a lot about the values of the adults, 'don't be a ***'. urging to fight a 3 year old girl? And it didn't seem like the boy was even that submissive, more like 'don't want to fight'.

And then urging the girl to hit the boy again, as in the behaviour was acceptable, in fact we should encourage it. Hurt the other one. Do it. We'll laugh here, right next to you guys.

That's just sadism, that's not toughening up anyone. Sometimes kids fight. Most, if not all, fight. Sometimes you just need to let it happen. As long as it's not really really dangerous and people are getting actually really hurt, I mean, you need to step up for yourself and not have the brain modification and learned behaviour of expecting someone to rescue your ass. The kid world is tough man. They pick on each other and they fight, sometimes frequently. But this one is just sadism and this will just hurt those kids mentally. SEems to me the little boy was the smartest one in the scene anyway, saying he doesn't want to fight. Has nothing to do with homosexuality or being a *****. When you let others step over you, then you are being a *****. That's different though. Besides the boy was only 2 years old. Pretty sick stuff.
