Jeez, I'm from conservative backwards Virginia. When I was in high school the Virginia Public school system ranked 42nd in the nation, yet we still had several lessons covering evolution.
Maybe it was because the court case in Tennessee was so fresh in everyone's minds.

Nebraska is further north, but its alot alike even if it is colder.

Nebraska and South Dakota are the only Great Plains states with areas that are actually nice (Black Hills, Pine Ridge, Chimney Rock/Scotts Bluff, Sandhills). Kansas, OTOH, is the worst part of Nebraska (the southern part) extended to cover an entire state. God help you all...

Let me say 2 things here:
1) Don't but Sony computers. They no longer provide a recovery disc when you purchase their computers.
2) Don't buy from Best Buy. Their "Geek Squad" is an absolute joke, and if you need replacement software from the manufacturer they make you buy it yourself and bring it to them.

This by no means should be construed as bragging, but Kansas has better golf courses

I don't know about that. If you're talking about elite courses, the Sand Hills Golf Club ranks higher than any Kansas course on Golf Digest's top-100 list. If you're talking about courses that the average person can get on, I can't really see any city in Kansas matching Omaha in sheer number and variety. Maybe around Kansas City, but the KC metro area is really a part of Missouri...
