I thought education was about critical thinking, if you want to teach evolution then you gotta let critics challenge the conventional wisdom so kids can think for themselves.

Oh, yes, "Kansas comes to its senses" — until the next election that once again changes the nature of the state school board.

        So who are you then?
I'm none of the above, actually. I'm the poster formerly known as IntgrSpin, from way back when.

And... you cannot teach biology without teaching evolution. It's like teaching physics without math.

Dear God, or... maybe that was a bad choice of words. But this sure is one heck of a blast from the past.

Don´t cry this out too loud.
The Creationists could use these arguments to get rid of biology lessons altogether. After all the hours wasted with biology lessons could better be used for some additional lessons in christian religion and the bible.

Biology isn't necessary in high school either.

People in Kansas are very nice. It's pretty ignorant to write them all off just because of some argument about school curriculum.

I'm not writing them all off. I'm just saying I don't think I'd be very comfortable there, with what appears to be a culture that is hostile to science.

Making a blanket judgement about an entire state's culture based on an argument about school curriculum is pretty ignorant, too. It'd be like me saying I wouldn't be comfortable in the violent, paranoid culture of Michigan due to stories about Detroit and the Michigan Militia-types...

...and I'm sure there are wonderful people in Saudi Arabia as well. But I'm not itching to travel there either.

I'm sorry Drake, but if there is a large contingent of elected officials who have twice succeeded in removing evolution from public schools, then I don't think that is a place I'll have a fulfilling life there. Fair enough?
