Because people who vote are smarter than the people who listen to talk radio.

As opposed to that carpetbagger Norm Coleman who was a Democrat who supported Bill Clinton and Paul Wellstone until the political winds changed and he reallized being a Republican would help his political career...

You have a habbit of not answering simple questions, don't you?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

That's all changed. About half their airtime is now taken up by ads.

When Joseph said "they," I figured he was talking about Air America, not Franken himself.

Jeez, what if this is the start of a trend, suppose other radio and tv talk personalities aspire to the Senate? Could you imagine the US Senate being populated by Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Dr Phil, Oprah Winfrey, etc, etc?

These folks would be taking a huge pay cut to go into the congress.

However, with rejects like Franken (who's just trying to boost his ratings), perhaps it's a winning proposition.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
