Now that's where I would say you're wrong. I have a death anniversary I like to commemorate close to Valentine's Day, and increasingly, a decent selection of flowers is hard to come by at this time. Especially for roses, which are either sold out completely, or priced at 3-4 times their normal rate.

And Valentine's Day is becoming quite dominant in various types of advertising also around this time. I think it's downright stupid that people are buying into these outside trends, instead of sticking to and cultivating our own traditions.

Maybe that's just in up in the country where you live down here I haven't seen any sign of it, nor have I heard anybody mention it

It's been years since I was last single during Valentines day. I am single once again. I didnt want to be without a Valentine though, so I bought the most matter of fact card I could find and gave it to a girl I flirt with in a couple of classes.

She was delighted, and we went for ice cream together.
