  • Fascistic Slogans

While the Democrats have their socialist wing, the GOP has the fascists... I didn't realize just how many until Bush got into office...and us into Iraq... I guess when fascists are out of power, most of them magically become critics of government, so we dont often have the chance to see them goosestepping in unison.

Obviously many people repeat these slogans without thinking thru the subtle implications and would not consider themselves to be fascistic, but we can see GOP faithful spouting fascistic slogans with an obvious enthusiasm that belies their worldview.

    Support the Troops

Sounds great, who wouldn't want to support the troops? Well, as David Dreier (R-Cal) pointed out in the House debate over the surge, you cannot support the troops if you dont support their mission. So you dont support the troops if you dont support the mission. And of course the mission is what George Bush says it is, so if you dont support George Bush you dont support the troops. We'd still be in Vietnam by that logic, and we'd cease being a democracy. But rest assured, if and when the fascists get tired of the mess they've created in Iraq, the echoes of "support the troops" will finally disappear from the halls of government.

You Hate America (or fill in the blank)

This is a common conclusion of fascists when they discover you aint a fan of George Bush or his policies. Yes, fascism doesn't get much more obvious than people trying to equate some politician with "America". But this is also a common reaction to the PC crowd who are constantly registering their complaints with how the country operates or its historical injustices. But we've all got gripes with past and current government, so how do fascists register their disagreements without attaching the "hate America" slogan to themselves?

A Vote for the Democrats is a Vote for the Terrorists

Variations on this theme are numerous, but its basically an accusation of treason. You see, virtually everyone was either supportive or neutral on invading Afghanistan but Iraq was different. Millions of people could figure out the people who attacked us were based in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Ironically the mission changed without those changing the mission getting slammed for not supporting the troops. We went to Afghanistan to get Osama and Al Qaeda and Bush decided Saddam was more important.

The Good of Society Must Prevail Over the Good of the Individual

Many American fascists try to portray themselves as defenders of freedom against the evil leftists, or "secular progressives", but when pressed to define freedom they wander off into "the good of society". To them, freedom means you get to live your life as you choose within the law. By that definition, Cubans living under Castro are free... Of course, once a freedom fascists cherish is threatened by a proposed law, they're back to defending us from the evil left.

              A conservative...

              Little boxes on the hillside,
              Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
              Little boxes, little boxes,
              Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
              All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
              Little boxes, all the same.
And there's doctors and there's lawyers
              And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf-course,
              And drink their Martini dry,
And they all have pretty children,
And the children go to school.
And the children go to summer camp
              And then to the university,
And they all get put in boxes
And they all come out the same.

And the boys go into business,
And marry, and raise a family,
And they all get put in boxes,
              Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

                A liberal...

Cyrano de Bergerac: Very well, let the old fellow come now. He shall find me on my feet sword in hand. Roxane: Cyrano!
                Le Bret: He's delirious.
Cyrano de Bergerac: I can see him now - he grins. He is looking at my nose, that skeleton. You there - who are you? A hundred against one, eh? I know them now, my ancient enemies...
[Cyrano thrusts his sword at the empty air]
Cyrano de Bergerac: Falsehood! There! There! Prejudice! Compromise! Cowardice! What's that? Surrender? No! Never! Never!
                [He slashes his sword wildly]
Cyrano de Bergerac: Ah, you too, Vanity? I knew you would overthrow me in the end. No! I fight on! I fight on! I fight on!
                ***
Cyrano de Bergerac: All my laurels you have riven away... and my roses; yet in spite of you there is one crown I bear away with me. And tonight, when I enter before God, my salute shall sweep away all the stars from the blue threshold! One thing without stain, unspotted from the world in spite of doom mine own
                [he raises his hand high]
Cyrano de Bergerac: and that is... my white plume.

Commies aren't leftists. Leftists have some degree of common sense

                      I'm not a commie.

I'm in between. Common sense and balls. Best of both worlds.

It still does in the sane part of the world.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?
