  • Music you've only recently discovered

this isn't a "what you're listening to" thread.

Rather it is interesting what music you used to compeltely not get before, and then began listening to recently.

I must mention the greatest rise in the last two weeks to "The Smiths".

I used to really not get them, and rarely would I like a ... well... non structured melody. But about 3 weeks ago I decided to listen to their best of album, and I began really appreciating several of the songs. They are very strong in imposing a melancholy mood which I really like.

Now I'm listening to it again, and this time paying attention to the lyrics - and I think they are very good. A lot of cynicism and just plain "oddness".

What did you discover only lately?

What? You heard "hand in the glove" in you started enjoying them?

Try some Blues. It's getting more and more rare. Get it while you can.

It would be cool, if people can add a link of their bands. Otherwise I'm too lazy to check it out over the web!

Unfortunately The Smiths sound better when youre single and/or a teenager. Still some great songs though.

Much as I hate to admit it, about 2 months ago, I was sick and the Mrs. was listening to a country singer named Josh Turner while I was sleeping.

She told me that I was keeping time with my feet and singing the chorus to the song.

The next day I told her to play the song, and I could sing it word for word.

                      ACK!

not so much stuff i haven't discovered before, but i'e been listening to a lot more jazz recently.

being trying out some dub step lately, quite impressed with kode 9 and digital mystikz, but not sure i'll delve too much deeper into this sound to be honest.

i've also recently managed to obtain a couple of transwave records http://www.discogs.com/artist/Transwave. proper old school goa trance.

latest cds i've bought (yesterday) are:

moby - play* (after some ****wit broke the old cd )
the best of mike oldfield - elements*
                        tony christie - definitive collection*
                        cream anthems - spring 2002*
the klaxons - myths of the near future

                          The Klaxons are ****ing awesome.

The Smiths sound like **** now, and they sounded like **** when they first started. Morrissey is just depressing.

Only just started to listen to Muse about 2 months ago. Muse
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
