I was suppose to also, but they forgot to increase the size of the home directory... so there was a lot of space sitting their wasted.

Depends on the language...I was assuming this was something you had written. I'm not sure how to force it if you're just piping the output to a file.
The formatted data is being written inside the program (fortran...ugh)
Some other crap I don't want messing with my nice clean formatted data gets printed out any time you run it too. I piped this to logfile (along with stderr)

Anyway, you might want to see what the process is doing with strace. Preferably by starting the process, getting its pid, and running strace -p pid 2>&1 |tail -n 500 because 1. strace will output a *lot* of text and you won't be interested in most of it and 2. attaching separately means you'll get your strace output separate of your program's output.
All right. I'm at 9 hours and counting. I think I might have been running into a diskspace problem. I removed some old junk. Should have plenty of space now. Need to talk to sysadmin to give me more diskspace though.
