The answer is quite simple, really:

Brandon / Brenden were trendy '80s names and thus super common, contemporary pop/ "rock" music is generally gay, thereby making it more likely that the most famous and successful bands will prominently feature gay performers , Las Vegas is a growing urban area in relatively close proximity to both the L.A. music scene and Utah, the heartland of Mormonism.

Mormons by their very nature are feminine. And we do have a large mormon population in our city. So they are more feminine than the average normal population.

I told my Mormon roommate about these two singers, but not that they were gay. It's kinda funny, since we were having a discussion about homosexuality just the other day. Another roommate's gf is hanging out with a gay guy a lot and that has brought up issues. The first roommate said the guy should just hang out with real guys more and he would be turned straight.
