  • I am pretty sure that my old place had a florescent break...

    Man I feel paranoid now..

( of course, in lab classes I have had several thermometers break and had pools of mercury before I or others cleaned them up...)

    • The amount of Hg in a single bulb is negligible. Don't worry about it.

      • I can take my flourescents to the local Recyk and they have a special bin for them. I've no idea what happens next, but presumably it's better then checking them in with general rubbish.

        • As I reiterate, I haven't had a single energy efficient bulb die on me yet. I've owned them ~9yrs, actually used them ~7yrs (out of the country etc.) and that includes heavy use ones like for the living room.

Oh and here we can readily recycle our bulbs due to the Hg...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

          • I haven't had one die on me, I did have one break (Thanks to drunken partying, I Think).

Probably the same thing that happens to all those recyclable milk bottle tops...
