  • Italian Football Season Postponed Indefinitely Following Policeman Death

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has suspended all matches indefinitely after a policeman was killed at a Serie A match between Catania and Palermo.

Officer Filippo Raciti died as violence flared during the Sicilian derby.

The FIGC has called off all this weekend's professional and amateur games, and also cancelled Italy's friendly with Romania on Wednesday.

Commissioner Luca Pancalli said: "What we're witnessing has nothing to do with soccer, so Italian soccer is stopping."
Seem to be going the way of Britsh footie in the 70s..

If English football was run by a similar combination of corrupt clubs & officials plus fascist hooligans (who do actually get to call many of the shots), it would be banned by UEFA & FIFA for ever.

        Double standards.

But European corruption has such a cozy charm about it.

I told you we suck and you never believe it
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

The difference, atawa, is that our country did something about its hooligans a long time ago. Italy doesn't.

True, but it wansnt untill the "Heizel" ban that they did something about it.

OT, if the UEFA would ban members becouse of deaths due to hooliganism there wouldnt be much football anymore.

England now has some of the lowest hooligan element anywhere. Other countries are copying the Englaish hoolies of yesteryear - from Holland to Cyprus. Dynamo Zagreb's 'Bad Blue Boys' get their name from Chelsea after their fans in the 70's & 80's.

Umm...what about Champions league games? Will the Italian side automatically forfeit or what?
