My roomie is from the Bahamas. He keeps saying things like, "How long is it going to be so cold?"

I look at him in mock disgust and say, "It's winter. The season where you have to wear more than a T-shirt, even indoors."

What's really pathetic is that this is the deep south where we rarely get a day below freezing.

I remember in the middle of summer some of the continentals over here wear t-shirts, jumpers and coats even if it's 30c+. Crazy. No wonder they all smell.

I wish it were a balmy 40F out. It's 11F (-12C) here, with wind chill of -10F (-24C). Gonna be colder tomorrow.

I'm just pleased it has been remarkably mild this winter. If this is global warming, bring it on

It's been a nice, mild winter so far, but Winter descended on Chicago this week. A little snow, wind chills around zero Farenheit. No big deal.

Don't be too optimistic - nature just have a hckkup - next winter you probably can skate on the thames.

Consider that tears have salts and other organic chemicals in it that makes its freezing point lower than regular water.

So I used to be a Boy Scout when I was younger. One of the requirements for being promoted to Tenderfoot was that I had to sleep a night in a tent I pitched. Now, I lived near Boston, and I'd put off going on a camping trip until late. So finally... in February, while everyone was sleeping inside a nice warm cabin, me and another guy had to shovel out a tent size patch in knee deep snow, pitch a tent, and sleep in it.*

                        * - Well we could have waited a few more months, but where's the fun in that?

Here in the southern Adirondacks, we're expecting a high of 10F this Tuesday with wind chills to -30F. This will be the second day this winter. Our winters used to have two weeks of that in January and again in February.
I won't be surprised if the Maple syrup will be $60-$70 a gallon because there hasn't been a long-lasting freeze.
I am on a mission to see how much coffee it takes to actually achieve time travel.

I grew up in Massena and remember those winters well: we'd come in from playing hockey and for the next 20 minutes we'd all be crying in agony as our hands and feet slowly thawed and regained circulation. Boy I really miss those days!
btw are you aware that Oswego and the surrounding area is expecting 3- 4 ft of snow over the next 24 hours?

Well, I just bought some ice cream, couldn't fit it in my freezer, so I put it outside my window instead hehe.
