I've never done an auction draft; how exactly does it work? We each get a "salary cap", and bid on different players? How do roster changes after the draft work?

So, we each get say $260 for 26 players... then one at a time each manager in the game puts forth one player, and a starting bid, and bidding continues until nobody wants to bid any further. Max bid is ($ left)-(# of players left)+1, ie you can't bid such that you couldn't afford to fill your team with $1 players.
Not exactly sure how it'd work online - perhaps we'd all nominate someone at once, therefore allowing it to move faster?<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

JDD and EmpFab are among the missing
3 SP, 2 RP, 2 P? I think I'd prefer 4, 2, 1
One category I didn't include is K/BB ratio for pitchers, I think both leagues adopted that last year because we needed a pitching cat and since Ks tend to be negated by BBs, adding the K/BB ratio at least helps as a tiebreaker. We can add it if y'all want...
If anyone has suggestions, present them here or in the thread we have in the sports forum.
We have 1 request for 4-2-1 (4 SP, 2RP, 1P) so far, post if you support the change. If you dont, I'll assume you're happy with 3-2-2
I dont think Imran is chomping at the bit to commish the weekly league, anyone interested?

I prefer 2-2-3 personally but 3-2-2 is certainly acceptable. 4-2-1 is not preferred.
I know i'm bringing up something I brought up last time, but why H2H? Baseball is not as much fun h2h, it's a lot more fun roto-style...<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

I'd remove SHO and IP (or at least remove IP) ... I don't like shutouts as they're so uncommon that having a whole stat to them imbalances things; and IP just doesn't make sense (and it significantly enhances the SP/RP tradeoff, which is not beneficial for strategy). Batting wise remove AVG (and TB if you remove SHO); AVG isn't needed with OPS and H there, and TB doesn't really add anything (people high in TB will have a high OPS, high HR, etc.)
Basically I think you always have too many stats in your games berz, it makes it too complex such that the strategic decisions aren't as interesting.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

IP is very important in daily, we use it at FFZ and it makes for some hectic decisions for the weekend when people are put in the position of losing IP or taking a chance on a starter who could hurt in a different category. Shutouts are rare but they are such a dominant reflection of your pitching it deserves the honor. Would you rather win SB by 1 or shutouts by 1? I'm open to making changes but you guys gotta convince us
Roto? Tried it one year and it lacks the week to week excitement of H2H, but I'm sure if you want to start a roto league you'll get a few people from Poly to play. And more categories means more options and more strategic decisions. If I had my way we'd be using even more categories I like singles, doubles and triples, OBP, Slg, K/BB, K/9 inn. I agree with 2-2-3, hell I'd go all 7 as (P) but the categories we are using have been established more or less over the years we've been doing this. I'm open to removing CG or SHO since a SHO qualifies as both, but consider just how important it is to throw a shut out. Obviously if the 2 teams are comparable in the pitching dept, a shut out should create an imbalance.
CHIME IN PEOPLE
People proposing changes want your support...if you support their proposed changes
We got a few days to get this done and if we have 10 or 8 people the draft will run fairly fast.
I did bump the minimum IP per week from 16 to 20 and removed K/BB. I'm in favor of using K/BB because using Ks and BBs tends to cancel each other out while K/BB makes it a 2 out of 3 contest - K, BB, K/BB.
I'd go for dropping Shutouts and putting K/BB back in. We have CG to reward shutouts and K/BB creates a 2 out of 3 contest with Ks and BBs which tend to cancel each other out.
WHAT SAY YOU?
Help us out here people, post if you like any changes being proposed.

I'll be drafting the same people regardless of the rules, so it's all good. Throw the pitch and let me swing.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
