Can I see the contents of a folder online?

In other words, if I know there's a file I want to look at in www.justanexample.com/spring2006/ (which I should have permission to look at) but there is no link to it from the index.html page (or any of the pages index.html links to) and I don't know the exact name of the file, can I display the contents of the spring2006 folder?

Okay. Solved the problem another way. The files were stored in a folder with a different name than the URL on the departmental servers. Managed to intuit my way around.

I don't understand how that works, though (different name for folders when I'm sshed into departmental server than when I go through web access).

Yeah, I've noticed that as long as I keep my public_html folder lacking an index file it lets people see the contents of my public_html directory via the web. Unfortunately this folder had an index.html file.
