  • Help me choose a topic for my term papers

The classes in question are European Society and Economy in the 20th Century and Politics of Advanced Industrial Societies (the focus of the class is Europe). I know I have a lot of time to do the two papers in question but I'd rather not wait til the last minute to do the two papers. Any help in coming up with a decent focus of research will be greatly appreciated.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Heck, why not deal with one single topic, perhaps the development of the welfare state in Europe post WW2?

It fits both classes. Just give each a slightly different tilt, but the basic research would be the same.
