    From KNBC News:

    Paltrow Joins 'Iron Man' Cast
Film Slated For May 2008 Release

"Iron Man" has some more company.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Shakepeare in Love" Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow will play Virginia "Pepper" Potts opposite Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man in the big screen adaptation of the Marvel comic book "Iron Man."

Potts is the personal assistant and object of affection of Stark, a billionaire industrialist who dons armor when in the guise of his superhero alter ego.

Also starring in the film are "Hustle and Flow" Oscar-nominee Terrance Howard, who will play Stark's best friend, Jim Rhodes.

"Elf" filmmaker Jon Favreau is directing the film, which is slated for a May 2008 release.

"Iron Man" is the first film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment. The film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Will they have the Vietnam origin? The Ultimates weird ass origin and brain cancer? More importantly, what's the armor going to look like?

My thoughts exactly. An inspired casting choice actually.

If they don't put any more effort into the look of the armor than they did for the pathetically unconvincing doctor doom armor in that fantastic four movie I'm not going to bother watching it.

And this is from someone who generally enjoys mindless comic book movies.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like they've totally redeemed themselves with the Silver Surfer.

Tony Stark is tall and slim. Robert Downey, Jr isn't -- altho I enjoy his acting very much.

Well Downey can probably use Heroine to get thin in a "Raging Bull" - Deniro school of method acting if need be.

The Ultimate one, but only if they have him shacking up with the Black Widow...and then causing massive brain damage after she turns traitor.

And Wolverine is susposed to be short. Sure there were alot of initial complaints with Hugh Jackman playing the part, but he did a pretty good job despite being 6'+.

I'm not about to tell Hugh Jackman that he can't play any role he wants to but I could whip Robert Downey, Jr's butt

And you probably said the same thing about Michael Keaton, aka Mr.Mom, playing Batman. He was the best of the bunch (aside from the new one).
