Why not? Does every note need to be backed? Or just have the government back them on demand?

Al-Qaeda is probably helping the Chechens to attack Russia. But the same guys we were helping then, the Northern alliance, are the same guys we're helping now, not a group out of southern afghanistan and northern pakistan.

Hillary (or any Dem for that matter) cant win without the center, Hillary cant win the center because women in the center wont vote for her, they simply will not trust another women to be Comander and Chief especialy post 911 regardless of her past. Thus I predict that if Hillary wins the monination and runs againt an even remotly centrist Republican she will losse because she will losse the womens vote.

There is no way Hillary could win the nomination, she is not sufficiently anti-war to gain the democrat nomination, they will choose the strongest anti-war candidate available, after all the war is the thing most prominent in peoples minds and that prominence will increase as the casualties increase.

The only Republican I'd even consider thinking about possibly considering becoming interested in voting for is Giuliani. I'd never vote for Hillary either, unless the Republicans ran Sam Brownback.

Oh, and "trev," you seem to be an Australian. If you're anything like the other Australians I know (lots, I live there) you don't know the first thing about Americans or American politics and you should keep your opinions to yourself.

Hillary could easily win the nomination, especially with her war chest. The Dems just re-elected a whole bunch of Congressmen and Senators who voted for the war. War support won't be a litmus test; if it is, everybody fails except Obama and Vilsack (and Kucinich ). Ain't gonna happen.

However, it could play a role if Gore enters the race, since Gore is basically Hillary with male genitalia and without the baggage of a war vote.

I see Dick Cheney is getting a large protest vote.

                            That's a scary thought

Did George Bu**** tell you that? Chechnya is a Muslim land occupied by Russia, same as was Afghanistan. Dont try to use it as an analogy to a future in which the USA has left the Middle East, that kind of "thinking" is why we're stuck over there now.

But the same guys we were helping then, the Northern alliance, are the same guys we're helping now, not a group out of southern afghanistan and northern pakistan.
Irrelevant to what I said, and not true. Pakistan was the staging ground for our effort in Afghanistan just as it is the staging ground for the Taliban.

                                Truer than you know.

Remember: The 9/11 Commission says that everal of the 9/11 hijackers had volunteered for combat in Chechnya when al-Qaeda diverted them into the new plan to attack the U.S.
