you gather from his remark about Ethiopia that he thinks the Jewish claim to Herziliya Pituach and Ramat Gan was a sound one?

Some times Intl. Law matters, and sometimes it doesn't. Just like UNSC resolutions. right, GePap?
The prohibition on settlements is far more basic than a UNSC resolution. It matters more than any resolution, because it is part of the body of laws that make a resolution legitimate in the eyes of most states.
You know, like the right of return, another basic international piece of law.

I don't see what the big problem is. I mean if it's ok to steal the original Balfour declaration style land by Zionism, shouldn't it be ok to steal a bit more that you've won from the crappy-fighting A-rabs?

You're only partly right.
I would possibly argue in a similar way for the legitimacy of the founding of some towns on proper Israeli soil too, since in 1948 there was a massive expulsion of Palestinians from the land and Israelis appropriated these spoils of war.
My knowledge of the pre-1948 immigration of Jews to Palestine is not good enough, but surely it cannot be equaled to the post-1967 settlements, that's why I'm not claiming things here I can't substain. How I see things, before independence, Jews had to deal with Ottoman laws and English administration to buy or make a claim on a plot, in the West Bank, the settlement takes place "by its own right".
And even if it were unlawful in my eyes in the first place, there's no doubt that Israel now is a reality for generations, and thus the question itself is irrelevant. But the Israelis certainly have a special responsability to work towards peace and to recompensate the Palestinian refugees for the loss of their land.

For me the kicker which realy makes me dislike these settlers is how they show no respect to their own goverment. The settlments are proped up at great expense by the rest of Israle society. The settlers seem to expect that they are DUE this support and when Isreal desided to withdraw they literaly spat on the same soldiars which had been puting their lives on the line for decades to protect them. Thats simply shamefull.

This shows how little you know.
The original Balfour declaration talked about 1917 Palestine which encompassed not only 1948 Israel, but the 1967 territories AND all of Jordan - which is about 3 times as big as Israel+Territories.
