Which, I felt, was quite reasonable. Whether or not everything he said was exactly true or not is another matter.

I think she's right in that we really can't know for sure yet (something I don't think he really disputes), because we're just not that far removed from the bad old days, as it were. In fact, she basically admits at the end that her hardline nuture stance is indeed questionable.
