According to your links, in real GDP terms Utah should be Egypt. By PPP terms, Utah should be...er, Iraq.

Conclusion: the OP´s map invariably inflates state real GDP or decreases country GDP. It is specially funny as they skip several countries to put Francia in his map.

So Denmark holds the Federal death chamber at Terre Haute, plus a race course of some sort. Not too bad, I suppose.

That info seems around 3 or 4 years old to me

The brazilian currency became expensive against the dollar this past years, and now their economy is around 900.000 millions, not 600.000 millions

It is for 2004. Two years old. 2005 is incomplete and 2006 data is not available yet.

Also these statistics are severely flawed on information grounds, especially for less-developed countries. We just don't know what the GDP is for mos small countries, as there isn't a complete, accurate census to draw on. Even for developed countries these methods don't take into account unreported economic activity. Italy, for example, has huge tax evasion, and as such it's thought by many people to have a higher actual GDP than France or the UK. Russia is another country with huge unreported economic activity.

They give a rough indication, and that's it, to be honest. And not even that when it comes to most less-developed countries.

California = France. That kind of works on several levels and not just GDP wise.

I had a chuckle when I saw that Russia's total GDP is about equal to New Jersey's!

That's a good list. I'm just cheesed off that China bumped California out of 6th place. Damn those 1.2 billion Chinese just barely out producing our 33 million.
