They determined some of the sites visited were sites that you had to actually click on or type in the url, and the teacher made no attempt to unplug the computer or shut it down. She could have also done safe searches etc. The computer could have had anti pop up protections.

Anyone who used the computer could do that including the students. Do teenagers ever visited sites they're not supposed to? No... That could never happen.

Silly boy. We care a lot less about our sky pixie. Too much at times, to be sure, even in the (American-hating, godless) liberal bastion of Connecticut.

40 years for what she supposedly did, even if it was intentional, is lunacy. Heck, unless she has displayed a pattern of this sort of thing, any prison time at all strikes me as overkill.

But without knowing more about the case, I don't know what I think the appropriate punishment is.

40 years is the theoretical maximum penalty. Throwing that number around is rather silly.

I don't see why this should be the case. There are many sites on the internet trying to compromise your computer, and not all of them are porn sites.

If some crap appears on a school computer, 99% of the times it's the students who did something they shouldn't. And you could easily reach inappropriate sites without purpose, by clicking the wrong link after googling for something completely different.
