As KH said, 150,000 isn't the material cost, it's the material cost + cost of the license. This material will cost a lot more than Rs. 40 once you add licensing fees.

No. When the cost of the component whose cost is decreased is a minor part of the overall cost, then the the overall cost is not seriously affected.

Depends on how you define "fantastic". If I was being treated, any savings in cost would be "fantastic" to me in the common-use sense of the word. Even if we assume cost won't be changed at all though, I would also consider it "fantastic" to not have to have a second proceedure to remove the gel, regardless of how non-invasive that proceedure would be...

Hell... "fantastic" with the right emphasis could mean exactly what you're saying KH. Just roll your eyes a little...

It may prove to be a significant (but not revolutionary) improvement to a treatment which is itself only applicable in a limited number of cancer cases.

Is it worthwhile work? Sure.

Is it worthy of the term "fantastic breakthrough"? No.
