I love how they say there was no leakage of radioactive material.

Like we kept the nuke fuel in glass bottles that would easily break in a minor collision. The fuel is only going to leak if the entire sub is destroyed. Morons. I guess the goverment and press has to release that info for all the nuke fearing citizens.

wow, I didn't realize the Kennedy hit a ship near the straits. He lost his job as well. Which you generally do if you collide with another vessel (at least surface ship capt face this). Not sure if sub captains would get fired. They can't exactly "see" after all.

Ships have been sunk. And btw, this is one of the most common types of collisions and has been for years and years.

You don't know what makes this type of collision less/more likely. You don't know Target Motion Analysis. It is not simply an issue of detecting the merchant but of knowing where it is. A non-trivial problem when your information is based on bearing, not range and when the target may be maneuvering, sound quality may be poor (ducting, inversion layers, etc.)

yeah they ran the odd fire drill every so often. That's all I can remember. And that was just fire party. Other than that, all drills were run out at sea. The exception being reactor plant drills. But those are different as you know.
