odd firefox behavior when I alt-tab

I just fired up Oblivion for the heck of it, and after alt-tabbing into Firefox some old weird behavior that I'd forgotten about. When I scroll down the page visible redraws itself, from top to bottom, taking a little under a second. It does that for each scroll increment. I know it has nothing to do with memory or pagefile because 1) pagefile is disabled, 2) I have 2GB of memory and am well within it, and 3) this behavior doesn't occur even when Firefox itself starts taking ~1GB, or when other programs take up the ~300 MB that Oblivion is using now.

It's probably related to Oblivion itself controlling some of the behavior of the mouse and/or the scrolling. Alt-tabbing out of a fullscreen game often has odd behaviors associated with the game, I think because the game's taking over a lot of the normal windows functions and replacing them with its own functions.
